Students

WSB-NLU is a School for students, meeting half way students' expectations and initiatives.  It is a place where every student is treated with respect and  due attention.

Young people from all parts of the country as well as from all over the world take up studies here.  At present, there are about 4,500 students at WSB-NLU.

The developed network of the School international contacts gives a chance to go abroad on scholarship to other countries to students taking interest in the world.  During the 2006/2007 academic year, nearly 60 individuals  left on scholarship for abroad within the Socrates-Erasmus framework.

WSB-NLU students are noted for their deep involvement in school life and activities.  They work in clubs and student organizations as well as science groups.  Not one semester passes without a new idea from the students to organize a scientific or cultural event. 

An important element in students' life is their own student press.  There is In Blanco - an independent student newspaper published in Polish (edition of more than 1,000 issues) see more and Ampersand - an internet newspaper published in English - see more.

Varied school sport facilities are fully frequented by students who not only look after their mental development but also good physical shape.  The outstanding sports back-up gives various chances to participate in individual and team sports - in numerous academic sports sections. 

The activities undertaken by the WSB-NLU students for people needing help inscribed permanently in the students' life tradition.  Students systematically help children from the orphanages in Nowy Sącz and the surrounding area through organizing games, plays, English lessons for them or simply spending with them.  A few times a year, charity events are organized to help the children from orphanages as well as other institutions.  A good example is "Wampiriada" which is a periodical event of blood donating organized by the Independent Student Association in cooperation with the blood donating unit in Nowy Sacz. 

A WSB-NLU student is involved not only in education and activities in various organizations.  Other events organized in the School or in cooperation with various institutions in Nowy Sacz area go down in history all the time. Of course, every May is full of preparations to sumptuous Annual Students' Celebrations.
