Biografia:

Fred Widlak was born in Chicago, Illinois and stayed in the Midwest to earn his B.S. degree from Illinois Institute of Technology, his M.A. degree from Marquette University, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University. In addition, he did post-graduate study at Indiana University, Northwestern University, University of Illinois, and Keller Graduate School of Management. He held a wide variety of positions in industry, government, universities, and not-for-profit organizations. His rich work experience included jobs as an assembly-line worker, laboratory technician, security guard, computer programmer, research administrator, NGO executive, college professor, and university program director. He was a faculty member at Indiana University, beginning in 1975, and he became an Associate Professor at National-Louis University in 1984. When he was appointed to be Prorector for Academic Affairs at WSB-NLU in 1992, he was the first U.S. citizen to become a chief academic officer in Poland. His affiliation with WSB-NLU has continued and his coordination with National-Louis University was instrumental in establishing the first American bachelor's degree program to be accredited in Poland in 2001. He continues to serve as the Director of NLU Programs in Poland and lives in Nowy Sacz.

Fred Widlak has taught a wide variety of university-level courses and conducted workshops in psychology, management, research design, statistics, teaching methods, and academic skills. His major research interests include the formation of managers’ personal and social identity; managers’ risk-taking and decision-making; conflict resolution in business; workplace bullying; and the development of human capital in Poland and Ukraine. He also studies the psychology of music, of gambling, and of religion and spirituality. In 2004, he founded "Encouraging Enterprise", based in Krakow, an organization that conducts market research, trains managers, and publishes articles and reports aimed at promoting economic progress in Poland. His recreational interests are listening to classical music and opera and performing as a Country and Western singer.
