On Saturday, January 25, 2025, participants of the Children's University of the First Age explored one of the most important topics in modern education – internet safety. The workshop was led by students from the Electrical and Mechanical School Complex in Nowy Sącz: Bartosz Majocha, Oliwer Gadzina, and Oliwia Cempa. The topic sparked great interest among both children and their parents, who actively participated in discussions and asked numerous questions.
During the workshop, a range of essential issues related to online safety was addressed. Participants learned what information can be shared online and what should be avoided, how to wisely verify content found on the internet, and how to recognize and respond to cyberbullying. Special attention was given to the concept of hate speech – who a "hater" is, what the consequences of their actions are, and how to effectively deal with situations where such phenomena occur.
The workshop aimed not only to educate children but also to equip parents with practical guidelines to help support their children in the digital world. During the session, the ZSEM presenters shared technical knowledge, real-life examples, and solutions that anyone can apply to make the internet a safer place.
The atmosphere of the workshop was full of engagement and curiosity, and the questions asked demonstrated how important and relevant the topic of internet safety is. Thanks to the interactive format of the session, children had the opportunity to learn how to protect their data, help others affected by hate speech, and avoid online threats.
Meetings like this highlight the significance of digital education in addressing modern challenges. Workshops such as these provide invaluable support for young people and their guardians in dealing with the dangers of the virtual world. We sincerely thank the ZSEM representatives for conducting the session in such a professional and inspiring manner!
