Łeb w Web – or how to navigate safely in the digital world?
As part of the preventive program “Łeb w Web – How Not to Lose Your Head Online,” our university, in cooperation with students from ZSEM in Nowy Sącz, is organizing a series of educational meetings for high school and primary school students. The aim of these lectures is to raise young people's awareness of cybersecurity, data protection, and the risks associated with online activity.
On February 25th, we visited the Economic Schools Complex in Nowy Sącz, where our speakers – Oliwer Gadzina, Oliwia Cempa, Bartłomiej Siedlarz, and Bartosz Majocha – shared their knowledge and experience. They were technically supported by Tomasz Mamala and Hubert Wróbel.
The lectures are organized in collaboration with students from the Electrical and Mechanical Schools Complex in Nowy Sącz, and their topics include:
- Online privacy protection,
- Fake news and manipulation on the internet,
- Cyberbullying and ways to prevent it,
- Safe use of social media.
Why is online safety such an important topic?
The modern world increasingly relies on technology and the internet, and young people spend a significant amount of their time online. It is where they learn, communicate, and build their identity. However, alongside the many benefits of the internet, there are also serious threats. Manipulation, disinformation, cyberbullying, and identity theft are real problems that can have consequences not only in the virtual space but also legal, emotional, and social ones. That is why education on safe internet use should be a key element of modern youth education.
Awareness of online threats and the ability to avoid them is the key to a safe future in the digital world. During the "Łeb w Web" lectures, students learn how to protect their data, avoid manipulation, and not become victims of cyberbullying. Our goal is not only to provide knowledge but, above all, to show young people that the internet should be a tool for development and communication, not a space full of dangers. We believe that education in this field is an investment in the future – a conscious and responsible digital society.
