This year's Małopolska Researchers' Night 2025 was a unique event in Nowy Sącz. Nearly 1,300 people came to the campus of Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu – National Louis University, including residents of the city and the district as well as guests from more distant towns in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. More than 60 fun-filled attractions awaited all participants, taking place in the main university building, the modern Student's House dormitory, and the OLIMP Recreation Center.
Continuing the tradition of the last three years, the event was preceded by the inauguration of the Children's University of the First Age, which began at 6:30 p.m. in the largest auditorium of WSB-NLU. Young students and their parents took part in the ceremonial opening of the new academic year, received their transcripts, and listened to the first short lectures prepared especially for them. The participants of the inauguration then remained in the auditorium for the start of the Małopolska Researchers' Night, thanks to which the two initiatives naturally merged. For the children and their families, it was a unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a major scientific event from the very beginning and see how fascinating science can be in practice.
The event began at 7p.m. in the largest auditorium at WSB-NLU. Participants were welcomed by the Dean of WSB-NLU, Dr. Jerzy Choroszczak, Prof. WSB-NLU, and the hall was almost filled to capacity. The impressive attendance proved how much interest this event had generated. After the opening ceremony, visitors began touring the various science booths, which kept them engaged until late in the evening.
The campus was filled with a real atmosphere of scientific adventure. Fascinating scientific experiments and special demonstrations took place in the main building of WSB-NLU. The forensic laboratory prepared by the Municipal Police Headquarters in Nowy Sącz, as well as the presentation of specialized search and rescue equipment presented by the State Fire Service in Nowy Sącz, aroused great interest. Guests could also participate in art therapy workshops led by Edyta Mikołajewicz and watch the “Be Fashion” fashion show prepared by the Fashion Industry Technical School at School Complex No. 3 in Nowy Sącz. The Municipal Cultural Center also made its mark by introducing an artistic element to the event.
Modern technologies constituted a significant part of the program. Tukano Software House presented an AI-controlled Snake game, while the Vocational Training Center introduced participants to the operation of industrial robots and an innovative laser welding method. In turn, the 3D Printing Academy – Edu3Dkacja provided an opportunity to learn about the latest solutions in 3D printing technology. Participants could also use VR and AR glasses, which transported them to virtual reality and allowed them to explore the campus in a completely new way.
There were also sports and recreational attractions. The gym hosted a LaserGun game, in which participants tested their accuracy and reflexes by shooting at light targets. The ASG Daniele group prepared a display of replica weapons with the possibility of firing safe shots at targets, and the “Evan” Academic Club conducted self-defense workshops. The event was also enriched by dynamic Wing Tsun Kung Fu workshops, which combined tradition and discipline with a modern form of training.
Attractions for children were very popular. The Sunny Buddies kindergarten prepared a variety of games and activities for the youngest participants, which attracted both children and parents. The Regional Pedagogical Library in Nowy Sącz conducted creative workshops entitled “Scientific Bookmark – Small Project, Great Fun,” and among the participants were also groups of scouts from the Nowy Sącz Scout Troop, who presented their equipment and talked about their activities.
One of the most photographed and commented on elements of the Małopolska Researchers' Night 2025 was BabyClon – an extremely realistic model of a newborn, which was placed in the main hall and became the focal point of the event. It aroused great excitement among both children and adults, showing that science and modern technologies can delight and provoke reflection at the same time.
All research clubs operating at WSB-NLU, as well as numerous partners and institutions, were actively involved in organizing the event. Thanks to this, participants were able to experience the diversity of science – from research and experiments, through culture and art, to sports and modern technologies.
Małopolska Researchers' Night 2025 at WSB-NLU showed how powerful science can be when presented in a practical and inspiring way. It was an evening brimming with passion, insight and unforgettable energy - one that will linger in the participants' memories for a ong time. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone for their enthusiasm and active participation and we cannot wait to see you in the next edition of this truly remarkable event!
