On October 26, 2024, the auditorium of the WSB-NLU in Nowy Sącz was filled with young, curious participants for another session of the First Age University program. The central theme of the meeting was "Game Programming and 3D Printing"—topics that captivated children between the ages of 6 and 12. The event was an excellent opportunity not only to inspire a love of learning in young minds but also to introduce them to modern technologies and practical applications of these fields.
The First Age University is a unique initiative aimed at fostering cognitive activity and curiosity about the world among children from the Sądecczyzna region. The project is built around popularizing knowledge through accessible lectures and workshops tailored to the developmental needs and abilities of its youngest participants. Held at WSB-NLU, the sessions allow children to meet with experienced university lecturers and field experts who present the practical aspects of science and technology in an engaging way that shapes our everyday lives.
The October 26 session drew significant interest. The theme of game programming and 3D printing proved to be highly engaging for the young attendees, who enthusiastically participated in the sessions, joining discussions and trying their hand at programming. The instructors explained game creation concepts simply and clearly, encouraging children to explore coding and showing them how to develop creativity in the digital world.
As part of the workshops, children were also able to examine 3D prints up close, which became a fascinating element of the hands-on activities. The printers and materials used in the session were provided by Pro Robo, a company supporting young learners’ education in modern technology. The 3D prints presented sparked great interest, perfectly complementing the programming theme by illustrating how technology can be transformed into tangible reality.
