The anniversary 20th edition of Małopolska Noc Naukowców! is behind us. On Friday, 25 September 2026, the campus of Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu – National Louis University in Nowy Sącz once again became a place full of experiments, new technologies, scientific discoveries and attractions for whole families. The attendance once again showed that science can attract people - throughout the evening, we were visited by crowds of residents of Nowy Sącz and the region.

This year's Małopolska Noc Naukowców was special not only because of the anniversary edition of the event. We began the evening at 6:30 p.m. with the official inauguration of the Dziecięcy Uniwersytet I Wieku WSB-NLU. The youngest students officially began their academic adventure, and shortly afterwards the entire campus started filling up with participants eager for knowledge, experiments and new experiences.

At 7:00 p.m. Małopolska Noc Naukowców officially began, and the spaces of WSB-NLU turned into a huge laboratory of science and great fun. The auditorium, Student's House, the sports hall and the car park next to the dormitory filled with participants of different ages - from the youngest explorers, through teenagers, to adults, who were just as eager to take part in the prepared experiments, shows and workshops.

Science that surprises

One of the spaces where science truly went beyond textbooks was the Main Auditorium of WSB-NLU. This was where a series of spectacular shows took place, combining experiments, surprise and great fun. Participants could find out where magic ends and science begins during the “Magic vs Science” show, discover the extraordinary possibilities of light as part of the “Fluo Laboratory”, and explore the mysteries of human senses.

One of the most spectacular highlights of the programme was the “Cold, colder, freezing” show. Its main attraction was liquid nitrogen and its extremely low temperature, allowing participants to see with their own eyes phenomena that they usually only learn about from textbooks. Physics and chemistry took on a completely different dimension here.

Just as much was happening in the sports hall at CR Olimp, where another portion of experiments and scientific challenges awaited visitors. Participants could enter the world of experiments and experiences, discover unusual species of insects during the “Insects for the brave” workshops, face the laws of physics during the “Risk-Physics” activities, and also take on the role of detectives during the “Top Secret” workshops. Each of these stations made it possible not only to observe science, but above all to experience it in practice.

Mathematics that entertains and teaches

The TALES School of Mathematics showed that multiplication tables do not have to mean only notebooks and school desks. At Student's House, participants could take part in the “Morning cocoa with multiplication tables” workshops. There were games, mathematical puzzles and an opportunity to design your own mathematical mug, which could later be taken home thanks to sublimation technology. It was one of many places where, during this year's Małopolska Noc Naukowców, traditional fields of science met creativity and modern technologies.

VR, AR, robots and the world of the future

Technological attractions attracted enormous interest. The WSB-NLU IT Department invited participants into the world of virtual and augmented reality. VR goggles, AR solutions, robots, a robot dog, automation-related technologies and interactive stations showed that the future we were reading about in science fiction books not so long ago is now within reach. Participants could learn about the projects: “Virtual Tour” and “Virtual University”. Thanks to them, it was possible to see the WSB-NLU campus in a digital 3D environment, explore its spaces and discover how immersive technologies can change education, communication and the way a university operates in the future. There were even more technological attractions.

Elitarne Technikum Informatyczne showed what the process of creating computer games looks like - from the first idea, through designing mechanics, to programming. In turn, Akademia Kreatywności by HAVE FUN prepared stations dedicated to LEGO robots, 3D printing and 3D pens, as well as basic electrical circuits. It was a space where participants could not only watch, but above all experiment, build and independently check how modern technologies work. Elitarne Liceum Ogólnokształcące also prepared its own station, inviting participants to the Laboratory of Three Elements.

Forensics, law and rescue services

Małopolska Noc Naukowców is also an opportunity to discover science used every day in the work of services. The Municipal Police Headquarters in Nowy Sącz took participants into the world of forensics. They could see how evidence is secured, how fingerprints are analysed and how scientific knowledge and modern technologies help in police operations.

The Special Rescue Group - GRS OSP Nowy Sącz also presented its equipment and the specifics of its work. Participants could see quad bikes and equipment used during rescue operations in hard-to-reach areas and learn what assistance looks like in situations where standard rescue vehicles are not sufficient.

Law was also present, as the LEX-LAB Scientific Club allowed participants to enter the world of a real courtroom and find out what roles are played by the judge, prosecutor, lawyer and other participants in proceedings.

Logic, languages, creativity and a scouting adventure

Board games were also present at the event. Hobbity prepared logic games, board games, puzzles and tasks requiring perceptiveness and strategic thinking. At the English Courses station, participants could see that learning English does not have to be limited to memorising more vocabulary and grammar rules. Games, short tasks and communication made it possible to practise the language in real situations and without school-related stress.

HarcLAB - Scout Laboratory (ZHP Nowy Sącz Scout District) invited participants into a completely different world. They could see camping equipment, learn scouting techniques, practise tying knots and lighting a fire using a fire steel, as well as try their hand at DIY activities. There were also large-format games that attracted entire families. Pedagogiczna Biblioteka Wojewódzka w Nowym Sączu also prepared its own space during the event, enriching the programme with additional activities for participants interested in science, education and development.

Science and helping others can go hand in hand

Stowarzyszenie Sursum Corda was also present during the event, talking about volunteering, social engagement and initiatives that make it possible to genuinely help others. The youngest participants could also enjoy colourful face painting and learn how to make balloon animals.

In this way, Małopolska Noc Naukowców showed that development does not mean only discovering new technologies or conducting experiments. It also means developing responsibility, cooperation and sensitivity to the needs of others.

Thank you for being with us!

The anniversary 20th Małopolska Noc Naukowców at WSB-NLU is now part of history. The huge number of visitors, full stations, queues for attractions, hundreds of questions asked to the presenters and, above all, the curiosity of participants showed that interest in science is not weakening. We are happy that this evening we could experiment, discover, ask questions and see together that science is present everywhere – in technology, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, languages, law, the work of rescue services, and even music and everyday life.

We sincerely thank all participants who visited the WSB-NLU campus and created the extraordinary atmosphere of this year's event together with us.
