The First Living Library Meeting Is Behind Us - Discover a Space for Open Dialogue

On 20 June 2026, the first meeting as part of the Living Library was held at the Nowosądecka Mała Galeria - a social and educational initiative organized on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the University of Business - National Louis University.
The event brought together people open to conversation and to looking at another person with greater attentiveness. The intimate atmosphere of the Nowosądecka Mała Galeria encouraged honest conversations, the exchange of experiences and asking questions for which there is often no space in everyday life.
The Living Library is an event in which, instead of traditional books, participants can “borrow” a person - listen to their story, ask questions and talk without haste, distance or a formal stage. The aim of the initiative is to create a space for dialogue, mutual understanding and breaking stereotypes.
During the first meeting, participants had the opportunity to talk to people representing different experiences, environments and areas of social life. Among the “Living Books” were, among others, Rusudan Dziadkowiec Diasamidze, Marek Ryglewicz, Barbara Adamowicz, Monika Madej-Cetnarowska, Natalia Tomasiak, Wacław Jagielski and Katarzyna Gajdosz-Krzak. The conversations concerned, among others, migration, identity, art, education, neurodiversity, work with youth, media and personal passions.
The first meeting showed that direct contact and openness can become an important element in building a conscious and engaged local community. This event was not only an opportunity to meet exceptional people, but also to reflect on how much we can gain when we give ourselves space for real conversation.
The Living Library is a series of meetings held in different parts of Nowy Sącz. The next event will take place on 4 July 2026 at Galeria Trzy Korony. The following meetings are planned for 25 July, 8 August and 22 August 2026. Each meeting will last from 11.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.
