What exactly is MWC? The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is the world's largest event dedicated to the telecommunication industry. This year's edition attracted over 100 thousand visitors from all over the world and over 2.4 thousand exhibitors from the mobile industry. The technologies presented included: innovations in the field of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, 5G, blockchain and new smartphone models.
MWC is a place where representatives of the largest companies in the industry have the opportunity to present their latest products and solutions, as well as to establish business contacts with other industry leaders. This year's edition of MWC in Barcelona allowed for the presentation of many new technologies and solutions that will affect the future of the telecommunications industry.
MWC is one of the most important events for the telecommunication industry, providing a platform for the exchange of knowledge, experience and business contacts. All this makes the MWC in Barcelona an event that certainly cannot be missed for anyone interested in the latest news related to mobile technologies and telecommunications.
What did this year's MWC Barcelona 2023 look like in numbers?
- Over 88,500 people attended the event in person, 56% from industries adjacent to the main mobile ecosystem,
- Participants from 202 countries,
- Over 2,400 exhibitors, sponsors and partners,
- Over 1,000 speakers and thought leaders,
- Over 40% of speakers from neighboring industries, including over 40% women,
- More than half of the participants at the executive level and above, including 21% at the C-suite level and 26% women,
- The GSMA's ministerial program brought together the largest number of delegations in history - 196 delegations from over 150 countries, almost 70 ministers and over 100 heads of regulatory bodies,
- 4YFN hosted nearly 800 exhibitors, over 375 speakers and over 250 pitching sessions,
- The event was personally reported by over 2,400 journalists and industry analysts from around the world!
- On average, 10,000 networking meetings established daily via the application,
- Approximately one million unique viewers of the main sessions on MWC Barcelona, Mobile World Live and partner platforms.
Based on pre-event projections, the GSMA expected that by the time of MWC Barcelona 2023, the city of Barcelona would generate €350 million in economic impact and 7,400 part-time jobs. We currently expect to exceed this forecast and will provide an update in a timely fashion.
