The International Conference "Local Government 6.0. Social Development - Economic Services - Modern Finance" was the second major scientific event held in Wieliczka in recent months. 🤝🏻

The conference continued the 21st International Conference in the series ECONOMY - FINANCE - MANAGEMENT (ICEFM2022) entitled. "Contemporary Challenges in Economic Policy, Business and Management", which was organised in Wieliczka in October 2022.

Present on the first day of the conference was our Rector — dr Dariusz Woźniak, prof. WSB-NLU.

  • This time, leaders and experts from many fields of local government science and practice from all over the world (Poland, Germany, France, Italy, Romania, USA, Peru and India) met at the Wieliczka Mediateka to discuss the development of a more perfect model of local government of the future. Technology and innovation have accelerated rapidly over the past few years, becoming increasingly important for social and economic development. The conference provided a platform for debate on trends, practices and development challenges facing local governments.
  • Social development was a key theme of the conference, as local governments play an important role in improving the quality of life of their residents. To this end, local government leaders considered investing in infrastructure projects, education and health programmes to help raise the living standards of residents in harmony.
  • Public services were another major theme of the conference. Local governments considered the use of modern technologies, such as mobile apps and online platforms, to make public services more accessible to residents. In this way, public services would be made easier and more accessible to all.
  • Modern finance was the third major theme of the conference. Local governments considered different ways to deliberately shape their financial situation, including alternative sources of funding. The public finance framework was intended to create a regulatory space for development that takes into account diverse sources of funding.
  • The conference was organised in cooperation with the City and Municipality of Wieliczka, the European Institute for Sustainable Development, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the Cracow University of Economics. The event was held under the patronage of the Association of Polish Cities and the Local Government Movement "Yes! For Poland".
