The proceeds from the collection will be donated to the three wards of the Sursum Corda Association:
- Piotr Bajdel, who is struggling with meningo-spinal hernia,
- Blanka Dadaś, a 4-year-old from Paszyn, who is affected by bilateral deafness,
- Oliwka Gajda, 5-year-old from Trzetrzewina, suffering from the rare neuronal disease ceroidolipofuscinosis CLN2.
It is worth noting that during the first edition in 2014 it was possible to collect PLN 3,000, four years later over PLN 16,000, and last year, during the ninth edition, it was possible to collect PLN 66,000 for Julka Bodziona.
The total funds collected consist of individual contributions from participants in the sports competition, donations and sponsors, as well as income from auctions held on Facebook and directly after the run in the Miasteczko Galicyjskie.
The costs of organising this event were covered by the main organiser, the Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu - National Louis University. All contributions from sponsors and donors were divided and transferred directly to the accounts of the Association's charges. The organisers would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year's success and supported the entire event.
The core of the entire event was, as always, the International Charity Run, which was traditionally held in the Miasteczko Galicyjskie and also in the form of an online competition anywhere in the world.
On 3 June, the Miasteczko Galicyjskie was overflowing with people of great heart. Hundreds of runners took to the starting line to run for the smiles of Piotr, Blanka and Oliwka. It should be mentioned here that the Open running category was won by Wojciech Tarasek, and the first of the women to appear at the finish line was Monika Ogórek.
Also morale boosting was the number of volunteers and people helping to organise the event from the very morning. The event was a family affair, attended by children, parents, numerous representatives of companies and organisations, students, etc.
In addition to running in four categories, the Run4aSmile event featured many different attractions. On the stage, we could see, for example, modern dance by children from the Viking Team, a performance by cheerleaders from the Cheer - NS team, and a vocal performance by Dagmara Pyzik. In addition, there was a Dart tournament organised by the WSB-NLU Research and Programming Centre. There were animations and face painting for children, led by volunteers from Sursum Corda. Barbecue lovers were able to enjoy the taste, thanks to Szubryt, the Nowosądeckie Serducho Association and the Związek Podhalan, who varied the barbecue flavours with traditional oscypek. An additional attraction was the opportunity to walk with alpacas from the El Salvador kennel, self-defence workshops conducted by Wing Tsun Kung Fu, and target shooting with replica weapons under the guidance of an experienced Airsoft group. The whole event was traditionally hosted by Krzysztof Witowski.
For those who preferred mental exercise, a chess tournament was held on Sunday. The tournament was divided into two groups. The senior classification was won by Piotr Widła, while the junior classification was won by Karol Antkiewicz UKS "Lisek" Lisia Góra.
